7 Basic Composition of a Laser Toner Cartridge

Laser toner cartridges contain a solid mixture which is even not same in all the printer cartridges. In fact, the mix sometimes varies from one printer model to another even if they are manufactured under a same company or the same manufacturer.

·       Polypropylene Wax: This is a polyester-like substance i.e. a polymer or plastic. The aim of polypropylene wax is to resist the toner from adhesion with the rollers within the laser printer. It basically allows molecules to flow willingly. These rollers are especially designed to melt toner into paper.

 

·       Carbon Black: Carbon black is used to pass on the black colour to polyester, as polyester is transparent. Carbon black is aassortment of free carbon atoms which are not bonded to each other. When carbon black is used inside your laser toner cartridge, it has a very high quality which resembles its purity.

 

 

·       Pigment Yellow 180: If you have a colour laser printer, it would necessarily need 3 basic colours. These colours when combined in different quantities result in thousands of different colours. One of these colours is yellow colour which is given by Pigment Yellow 180 which is made up of a compound called benzimmidazolone.

 

·       Pigment Red 122: The use ofPigment Red 122 is passing on all shades of red on the paper. This pigment actually consists of compounds called quinacridone and depending on how quinacridone compounds are utilized and in what quantity, they can make every shade of red colour.

 

·       Pigment Blue 15:3: Pigment Blue 15:3 is actually utilisedto give the cyan colour to the mix. This pigment contains copper phthalocyaninefrom where the word cyan originated. Cyan is a combinationof green and blue.

 

·       Fumed Silica: Solids are more frictional than liquids which prove to be a hindrance in the free movement of these solid particles. Therefore, fumed silica i.e. glass beads kin of substance in microscopic scale, is introduced to the mix in order to induce the flow capacity of solids inside the laser toner cartridge. It doesn’t allow the particles to stick to each other. Hence, leading to increased speed of the printer.

 

·       Charge Control Agents: As the name suggests, charge control agents make it easy for the toner to maintain the charge that has been passed to it. They are essential as while the process of printing is going on, the particles of the toner can rub with other material which can lead then take on charge which will consequently devastate the printing process.
